Challenge: Achieving Unprecedented Quality

A manufacturer in the semiconductor industry planned to enter a rapidly growing marketplace with a new CMP machine. The company's existing conditioning process caused excessive crystal loss and, therefore, unacceptably low yields. It needed a brand new solution that could reach unprecedented quality and move the new CMP machine to market.

Solution: Brazed Technology to Deliver Quality at Scale

Using our P.B.S. ® process in a new application, we sought the exact size, shape and diamond concentration to hit the goals for quality and yield. A prototype was presented within a few weeks. After testing and enhancing the initial design, Abrasive Technology manufactured and delivered the final product within a month.

Our brazed disc solution allowed this manufacturer to achieve previously unreachable quality targets and move its CMP machine to market. The solution greatly reduced scrap and worked effectively in large-scale production.
