SNOWPOST® & SNOWLIGHT® composite posts are made of unidirectional, longitudinal glass fibers for strength, embedded in a resin matrix for shock absorption.
The zirconia glass fiber gives SNOWPOST® & SNOWLIGHT® posts a higher resistance to acid and alcali agents, a better resistance to hydrolysis in wet environments and also a better resistance in fatigue compared to common glass fibers.
The special components of the SNOWLIGHT® resin matrix matching with the zirconia glass fiber make SNOWLIGHT® posts light translucent. |

The mechanical properties of SNOWPOST® & SNOWLIGHT® composite posts have been studied by the TECHNICAL CENTER FOR MECHANICAL INDUSTRIES (CETIM) of Nantes, France.
For unidirectional composite materials, mechanical tests are quite the same as the ones done for steel (isotropic material), but the results are more difficult to read because of their anisotropy: only specialists can interpret them.

SNOWPOST® & SNOWLIGHT® posts are cylindrical with a long apical cone. During sealing, their bevelled extremity helps to avoid the piston effect as well as the induction of air bubbles between the post and the root canal walls.
Unlike with metallic posts, the real chemical adhesion of SNOWPOST® & SNOWLIGHT® posts with the core composites, bonding agents and resin cements renders mechanical retention unnecessary. |
