Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy
At Abrasive Technology, our work is built on genuine care, quality manufacturing, and long-term customer trust. As responsible sourcing expectations continue to expand—especially in aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial manufacturing—we are committed to supporting our customers’ responsible minerals sourcing requirements across our supply chain.
Our Commitment
Abrasive Technology is committed to responsible minerals sourcing practices that:
- Respect human rights and support safe, ethical working conditions.
- Help prevent minerals and metals from contributing to conflict, forced labor, human trafficking, or other serious human rights abuses.
- Align with widely recognized due diligence expectations, including the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas (where applicable).
Scope: 3TG (Conflict Minerals)
Many customer and regulatory programs focus on 3TG minerals: tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold.
In addition, some customers may request due diligence and reporting for extended or high-risk minerals, such as cobalt and natural mica. Where applicable, Abrasive Technology will support these requests using recognized industry-standard reporting templates (e.g., CMRT for 3TG and EMRT for cobalt and mica).
How We Support Customer and Regulatory Requirements
Where applicable and/or upon customer request, Abrasive Technology supports responsible minerals sourcing by:
- Conducting a Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry (RCOI) across our supply chain.
- Requesting relevant supplier documentation—commonly using the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT)—or an equivalent customer-approved format.
- Reviewing supplier responses for completeness and consistency and following up as needed.
- Encouraging the use of responsible smelters and refiners that are aligned with recognized industry programs.
Supplier Expectations
We expect our suppliers (as applicable to supplied materials/components) to:
- Maintain processes to identify and disclose the presence and origin of in-scope minerals.
- Provide accurate and timely information to support customer reporting requirements.
- Communicate responsible sourcing expectations down to their own supply chains.
