Loyal M. Peterman Jr.
Mr. Loyal Peterman (Butch) is President and Co-Founder of Abrasive Technology one of the largest privately held superabrasive grinding and tooling manufacturers in the world. Butch is also Director of Manufacturing with Heart, Inc., a member of the Abrasive Technology family of companies, which is a consulting and coaching company for small manufacturing businesses. After assuming sole ownership of Abrasive Technology in 1992, Butch has grown AT to 10 facilities around the globe and approximately 300 associates.
Under Butch’s leadership, AT invented and patented the process for brazing diamond to steel (P.B.S.® bond), used today in a broad spectrum of industries and markets. Personally, Butch has earned other patents and patent applications in the areas of gear grinding, electronics and superabrasive wheel manufacturing.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Butch earned an M.B.A. degree from Xavier University, and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. These degrees provided the knowledge base that enabled him to begin his career as a Design Engineer at GE Jet Engines and in Borazon® Market Development at the GE Superabrasives facilities. In addition to his business successes, Butch is a founding board member of the Ohio Foundation for Entrepreneurial Education (OFEE) and is a past president and board member of the Industrial Diamond Association of America. In 1999, he was named Ernst & Young's Central Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year in Manufacturing. Butch served as treasurer and a board member at The Country Club at Muirfield Village and is a speaker for Organizational and Leadership Development for culture and process-centered learning corporations.
Butch enjoys connecting with people, working, engineering, making things simple, change, inventing, playing golf, the stock market, real estate investment, traveling, fine dining & wines & champagnes, learning, yoga, and meditation.
Daryl L. Peterman
Mr. Daryl Peterman is CEO and shareholder at Abrasive Technology. He serves as Process Engineer for Sales, Marketing, PDAE, and Customer Service Processes as well as Leadership Coach. Daryl leads the company’s day-to-day operations and strategy for initiatives including organizational design, culture, talent management and IT.
Daryl joined Abrasive Technology in 2005 after working with Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin in Los Angeles, where he successfully marketed companies for strategic or financial buyer sale. Prior to that, he worked at City National Bank in Structured Finance and Andersen Consulting as a Consultant. Daryl earned an M.B.A. in Finance from The Anderson School at UCLA and a B.A. in Economics, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University.
Daryl enjoys live music, travel, golf, surfing, exercise and spending time with good friends. He is active in the Central Ohio community and has served on the board of the Columbus Museum of Art.
